It was recently brought to our attention, by a fellow SLU student, that some of the information on our site regarding McMurray's Test was inaccurate. We had stated that external rotation of the tibia with full extension assessed the lateral meniscus, while in reality it tests the medial meniscus. The opposite applies as well for internal rotation of the tibia. We reviewed the evidence for the test and found this to be consistent. Unfortunately, the test alone (including its various versions) does not have high diagnostic value, even with experienced clinicians. This is why it's so important to cluster your findings in order to determine the likelihood of a meniscus tear! If you notice any other errors or have different perspectives on some of our posts or tests, let us know!
