MTSS or "shin splints" (as called by most patients) is a tricky injury that often goes misdiagnosed for some time. It is an injury that can limit many activities. Shin splints, also known as Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS), are defined by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons as “pain along the inner edge of the shinbone (tibia).”
